The United States have long been labeled as the â€Å"Great Melting Pot†, and with good reason. American culture is by far the most diverse culture in all of the world. Not only are Americans exposed to new and different ethnics groups more often, but different ethnic groups and cultures are experiencing each other for the first time in America as well. As people become more mobile on an international level, they experience a vast array of behavior. These behaviors will even vary as one moves across the country. Take for example the difference in just the northern and southern states and their preconceived notions each holds of the other. Because of this false image, they automatically assume that southern people are of a lower intellect. Nike’s brand image, a set of emotions, feelings, and experiences with the brand, developed over time through advertising campaigns and consumer experiences with Nike. The core attributes of Nike’s brand image include high performance, innovation, and aggressiveness. Nike used brand associations in order to establish a positive brand image and build their brand equity by endorsing popular, successful athletes like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. These associations convey the American spirit of competition and winning and work very well in the United States. Nike capitalized on how much Americans idolize their favorite athletes and it once again projected their image of high performance and their dedication to serious athletes. Their advertisement campaigns also helped build their brand equity by increasing awareness, as can be seen with the Air Max, Air Jordan, and Just Do It ads that conveyed powerful brand statements and reflected Nike’s attitudes, while remaining â€Å"provoking and unique. † Nike successfully applied their new marketing formula of blending performance and attitude through strategic product development, endorsements, and advertising, which built their equity. Their perceived quality and brand credibility is based off of high performance and innovation and their brand loyalty is strong as well, stemming from their early relationships with runners to get feedback and input. In addition, they used a â€Å"finger on the pulse† strategy to hit the streets and really find out what was on the minds of consumers, in terms of brand perceptions. Another source of brand equity for Nike is their Swoosh logo and as of 2000, 97% of Americans recognize it. 2. I am not surprised that the irreverence characteristic of Nike advertising in the U. S. id not sit well with many European consumers. The culture in Europe differs from the one in America and European consumers vary in significant ways from Americans. Nike introduced many changes in their marketing mix to tap into the European and Asian markets. They established a grassroots allegiance of local sports teams, mainly with soccer, tennis, and rugby. In addition, they evolved their marketing str ategy to a two-tiered approach. Individual markets featured ads with local stars, while all of Europe saw ads that featured popular sports like soccer, tennis, and track. Nike also focused its attention on the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, raising their overall global advertising and promotion budget to $240 million. With the rising popularity of basketball in Europe and Asia, Nike also planned to lead its marketing charge with its strong stable of basketball superstars. In addition, Nike implemented a global advertisement campaign during the 1994 World Cup, recognizing that soccer was the best way to enter new markets. In Asia, Nike abandoned its brash advertising attitude and celebrated local athletes as heroes in their ads. Overall, Nike had a kinder, gentler marketing approach with ads that projected a more international image (use of Tiger Woods and Ronaldo in ads). Nike’s new focus was to be seen as culturally, geographically, and personally relevant to local consumers abroad. I am not surprised that the advertising did not sit well with many Europeans because of the vast difference in the cultural aspects. Europeans saw Nike’s marketing actions as intimidating and too aggressive. Also, the brand did not have the history or heritage in the market and was starting more from scratch. In addition, fashion trends inevitably changed which caused Nike to be behind the curve. 3. To become a global corporation, Nike had to adopt a globalized strategy to build their global brand equity. They did this by broadening their portfolio of athlete endorsements and focusing their ad campaigns on different sports that were more popular in those areas. They kept the essence of the brand, the same core values, and stayed consistent with their marketing communications, but tailored to different regions by using local athletes. This was possible because they had 90% control of the marketing advertisement strategies in Europe and were able to stay consistent. As I mentioned before, Nike also sponsored global events like the Olympics and the World Cup, which increased their credibility and awareness on a global scale. Answer: Identification of a health issue in United States: Heart disease is very common and dangerous phenomenon within United States. Majority of people in America are very fat. They suffer from obesity also. This obesity has led to the serious disease like heart diseases, arthritis etc (Urmc.rochester.edu, 2015). In this case, the major focus is on heart disease among American people. Both men and women of America suffer from severe heart disease. Every year, this disease has killed a large number of Americans. Therefore, heart disease and issues regarding this disease are the major areas of interest. Background information: Heart disease is a common disease for the people of all over the world. However, the people of United States suffer most from the heart disease. Obesity is most common phenomenon among the Americans. This obesity has led to the emergence of coronary artery disease among most of the people of America. Obesity as well as being overweight has led to several critical issues like heart diseases among men and women and children within overall regions of United States (Stavans, 2010). The American Heart Association has stated that, heart disease causes strokes and heart attacks. It has killed many people with the combination of different forms of cancer. However, the practices of smoking and eating practice of junk food has led to the obesity and high weight among the people. Therefore, these practices can led to the overweight of the body thus cause for different diseases of heart (Revilla Beltri, 2013). Most of the deaths among Americans can cause by severe heart diseases. However, African Americans are most of the victims of this heart disease. Coronary heart disease has killed over 370,000 people per annum. 735,000 Americanshave heart attack per year. Heart disease is the second most common disease after cancer among different ethnic groups of America. Whites and African Americans are the most victims of this heart disease. However, from the surveys of 2010, it has been stated that many people do not know the sign of heart problem. Most of the people know that the only symptoms of heart disease are chest pain. However, there are other minor and major systems those should also be understood by the common people. They do not even know that the obesity is one of the most common factors of heart disease. 47% cardiac deaths have been occurred outside the hospital for low knowledge of people. The people often do not have any idea about the early warning signs. As discussed by Green et al. (2012), major early warning signs are Shortness of breath, discomfort or chest pain, pain in upper parts of the body, nausea, cold sweats. However, the risk factors of heart disease are high rate of LDL cholesterol, smoking as well as high blood pressure and obesity or over weight. Half of the Americans have all risk factors those can lead to the severe heart disease. On the other hand, poor choice of diet, physical inactivity, Excessive use of alcohol have affected upon the health condition of Americans. Probable Stakeholders: The stakeholders are from different groups, those are internal and external stakeholders. In this project of reducing heart disease, the internal stakeholders are project managers, team leaders, team members. On the other hand, the external stakeholders are general people especially from the religion of African American, Hispanics and White Americans. Heart diseases have killed most of the women within America. Ninety percent women have victimized by different risk factors of heart disease. People of young ages are the most victims of heart disease. Designing an implementation plan for project: However, in order to reduce the issues of heart diseases among the Americans large project with effective team and communication should be presented by the project organization. A communication plan: The team should build an effective plan of communication that can be helpful for providing the latest information about awareness of heart disease. Most of the common people do not have the idea of minor and major symptoms (Martin Soldo, 1997). They do not also have the idea that their eating practices and bad habits can help in order to grow different types of diseases of heart. However, this project can include some of the communication methods by utilizing different types of medium; those are as follows: Seminar: The project should include some seminars for communicating some effective information about the causes of heart diseases to the common people. Project should organize different seminars with the help of eminent Doctors and professionals who can deliver important notifications to the people. Workshop: Apart from organizing seminars, some workshops can be organized by the project organization. This workshop will include daylong activities including the causes as well as remedies of heart diseases to the people. This workshop will discuss about the dangerous situations of smoking and bad effect of excessive use of alcohol. Road shows: The project should include some road shows for the people. This road show will include some eminent celebrities who will share some bad experiences about heart diseases. Therefore, they will also demonstrate that obesity is one of the most common causes for heart disease. Advertisement campaign: The project should deliver some print or billboard advertisements those will contain some effective information about the data, statistics of heart diseases among Americans and rest of the world. Leaflets and Posters: These will deliver information about the remedies of heart diseases. These posters will be given to the people for enhancing the good eating and health practices among the society. Therefore, creative writers should be given responsibility in order to produce successful posters and leaflets those can be able to attract the people at a glance. Leaflets will be sent to the general people of the area. Popular and crowded place should be selected for delivering leaflets and posters. Apart from these, people from event management background should be involved within the program of organizing seminar, road shows and workshop on particular topic. However, marketing people also should contact some eminent personality on given topic (Koehlmoos, An war Cravioto,2011). Whole project require some times to be completed by the organization.
